The 2 Things VCs Really Want
January 3, 2025
When you take a multi-million dollar check from a VC, they’re really only looking for 1 of 2 outcomes. This can cause some very strange behavior in the future.
AI has been the tech megatrend for a couple of years now but I think it would still be fair to say that while it’s on everyone’s mind in the technology sector, most of the tools are still a long way from mainstream usage. So what’s going to happen in 2025? Here’s my expectations for the big AI trends in the coming year:
In 2025 I expect we will see AI “agents” become prevalent in daily life, from customer support, to handling phone calls and even booking travel. The new crop of tools that can use computers, talk like a human and make payments, will see rapid adoption.
We’ve already seen the LLM companies like OpenAI and Anthropic add levels of personalization but in 2025 I expect that to go a lot further. We will see personal AI devices that are dedicated to you as an individual. Imagine a personal, always available therapist or a teacher to help you learn about something, your way, in realtime.
Sora came out this week and there are many other tools out there for video generation. By the end of 2025, there will be premium movies and shows made entirely by AI, with no real actors.
Recent conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East have shown how drones can drastically change warfare, I expect we will start to see AI on battlefields in 2025 with a wide variety of results. There will be both miracles and tragedies.
Best of luck out there.
